Daniel ŠPERL

 

Daniel Šperl was born on April 12, 1966 in Tábor. He was introduced to photography by his father. In 1982, he became a member of the photographic group Ekran (Screen) in Tábor and exhibited regularly with them. From 1986 to 1990, he studied at the Institute for Creative Photography of the Union of Czech Photographers. In 1991, he began photography studies at FAMU in Prague. He completed his M.F.A. degree at FAMU in 1999. He graduated from PhD studies at the Institute of Creative Photography at the Faculty of Philosophy and Science of the Silesian University in Opava and received his Ph.D in 2019. He specializes in black and white, documentary photography, and publishes at home and abroad. For many years he has been represented by the Leica Gallery in Prague. He works as a TV and film cameraman.  Šperl lives in Prague.

 

 

Daniel Šperl se narodil 12. dubna 1966 v Táboře. K fotografii jej přivedl otec. Od roku 1982 byl členem fotografické tvůrčí skupiny Ekran v Táboře, se kterou pravidelně vystavoval. V letech 1986 až 1990 vystudoval fotografii na Institutu výtvarné fotografie Svazu českých fotografů. V roce 1999 ukončil magisterské studium na katedře fotografie pražské FAMU. Doktorské studium absolvoval a ukončil na Institutu tvůrčí fotografie Filozoficko-přírodovědecké fakultě Slezské univerzity v Opavě v roce 2019 a získal titul Ph.D. Věnuje se převážně černobílé dokumentární fotografii. Publikuje doma i v zahraničí. Mnoho let byl zastupován Leica Gallery Prague. Pracuje jako televizní a filmový kameraman.  Žije v Praze.
